LONG DAYS & DRIVES
August 25th, 2010
I’m sorry the content on here as of lately has been lacking; I’ve been busy assisting in LA and haven’t had much time to shoot or surf lately- I’ll be sure to get some new content up as soon as I get back a few rolls from the lab. Assisting has been a big change.. but it’s been a huge blessing, a wonderful opportunity, and I’m very grateful to be working with fashion photographer, David Mushegain. David shot this of Keegan, his stylist, testing out a polaroid land camera he had laying around. He hated the final result, and I absolutely loved it.. stoked I got to keep it.

80 TIMES
June 28th, 2010
I shot this with (my) Mamiya RB67, and this was the result. Somehow the tabs that release the next Polaroid, got stuck together and proceeded to pull out the next Polaroid halfway connected to this one below (I think creating the lack of processing on the left hand side as a result..) and so on and so forth, for the remaining pack of Polaroids- ruined. At least I got 6 shots out of a 10 pack, and got this lil gemicon below..

IT DIES TODAY

My really good buddy Jeff Robson recently installed his own body of online work. I’m personally really excited about it, since I consider Jeff to be one of my bigger influences both photographically and creatively. Stop by and check out the galleries he has up so far; He’ll be adding more shortly..

MAD WOLF REGION
February 1st, 2010
I’ve been in this super gnarly rut lately and am having trouble trying to do pretty much everything. I’ve noticed these feelings and mental blocks come and go- but it is always the same exact feeling. I usually will drive around alone listening to music in my truck until I can find something to photograph; helping me to think a bit better. I ended up in this abandoned parking lot in the middle of nowhere yesterday. I looked down, and this is what I saw.. I’ve been spending so much time looking up lately- that I’ve completely forgotten to look down…

GLIMPSE THE TRUTH
January 21st, 2010
“This is about one of those journeys that sometimes brings surprises that you don’t expect to encounter.”
- Robert Plant, 1977
I shot this in my room yesterday afternoon; My street was turning into a river, and my house was leaking. This was shot with available window light on an ISO 100 4X5 Polaroid- the exposure was 2 seconds @ F5.6. Stone faced (pretty boy) Tindale.

I also went back to Burger Records the day before yesterday to pick up that Zeppelin bootleg I was talking about the other day- it was eating me alive with curiosity about that No Quarter that was too long to fit on a single side. And I was wrong- it’s 6 songs, not 5. The No Quarter alone made the entire album worth the purchase- not to mention the brain bending Out on the Tiles > Moby Dick featuring Keith Moon/John Bonham. I sat indoors for the remainder of the day after shooting the above shot of David, and marinated in my thoughts and on that No Quarter- hard. This is what the cover looks like…

DIGITAL BUDDAH
January 19th, 2010
I like finding record stores that don’t just carry 95% crap. Its nice when you walk in and a couple of the first LPs you see are “Iron Maiden – Live in Japan” & “Led Zeppelin – Live at the Forum”. I went to Burger Records in Fullerton yesterday just after it had started raining with CT, Robson, & Thomas; I’d never been before. I can honestly say this was the longest I had spent browsing in a shop…pretty much ever. I really wanted the bootleg Zeppelin show I mentioned ($40 – 4 Lps, 5 songs..), but I settled for these instead.

SR.

I shot these two polaroids with the MamiyaRB67 about a week or two before Scotty moved. Me, him, Turk, and Scott Sr. had just finished shooting some riding shots, and Scotty’s ‘73 shovelhead’s was having some issues with the distributor. Scott Sr. needed to retard the distributor in order for it to work; This process took a total of about 20 minutes before he had the bike started again. Man, that is a dad- someone who not only supports any and everything you do, but helps you with virtually anything you need assistance with.

THE MOON IS DOWN
January 4th, 2010
Cam Oden came over with David to my place in Costa Mesa around a week before Christmas, to get a few shots of me sorting through a batch of new negatives I had picked up fifteen minutes prior- for a new project that David & the Almond crew are currently working on. I really liked these two..

I also finally found Live/Dead at a more than reasonable price on vinyl a week or so ago. It blew my brains out when I put it on; especially the St. Stephen > The Eleven transition- It just sounded sooo much better compared to CD or MP3…obviously.

Last but not least- here’s some “art” for you that I shot out my window last night…

ON YOUR FEET
December 28th, 2009
I’ve been wearing Vans shoes ever since I can remember. The first pair I owned were the old schools in black. I felt so cool when I got them, I must’ve been about 9 or something. I just remember all the cool kids had Vans, and I wanted to be cool- but in a non expensive way (since Jordans and Reboks ‘pumps’ were like $100 a pair). Now, over 15 years later, they’re still on my feet. It is a huge blessing and more than a dream come true to be working with a company such as Vans, and having the support from them in what I do. Thanks again for the KLXVANS Tees guys – I love you Vans.
