BIKE SCENE
September 9th, 2010
I shot these one of the first times I met Ryan (sometime toward the end of December of ‘08). These were some of the very best times of my life thus far; They taught me more about myself, what my friends and I are capable of once we set our minds to something, and how important solid friendships truly are in this day and age.
Now that summer is on it’s way out, and the foggy weather and winter swells are heading in… I’m going to miss being in good old Santa Barbara once again.

GLIMPSE THE TRUTH
January 21st, 2010
“This is about one of those journeys that sometimes brings surprises that you don’t expect to encounter.”
- Robert Plant, 1977
I shot this in my room yesterday afternoon; My street was turning into a river, and my house was leaking. This was shot with available window light on an ISO 100 4X5 Polaroid- the exposure was 2 seconds @ F5.6. Stone faced (pretty boy) Tindale.

I also went back to Burger Records the day before yesterday to pick up that Zeppelin bootleg I was talking about the other day- it was eating me alive with curiosity about that No Quarter that was too long to fit on a single side. And I was wrong- it’s 6 songs, not 5. The No Quarter alone made the entire album worth the purchase- not to mention the brain bending Out on the Tiles > Moby Dick featuring Keith Moon/John Bonham. I sat indoors for the remainder of the day after shooting the above shot of David, and marinated in my thoughts and on that No Quarter- hard. This is what the cover looks like…

I AM HYDROGEN
November 24th, 2009
Mitch was kind enough to ask me to whip up a couple t-shirt designs for Captain Fin Co. the other day, and I was very happy to help out. These are what I came up with. I personally like the butt/baby graphic best, but it isn’t up to me to decide which one will be wearable in the months to come…

PORTFOLIO/ARCHIVE
September 28th, 2009
It has almost been two complete years of me updating this thing every single day, as I’m nearing over 600 posts. I’ve had a lot of work to go through to select my ‘best’ work for my personal portfolio/archive. I originally started it with the idea of a gallery consisting of all the work on here- so viewers wouldn’t have to keep clicking ‘previous posts‘ at the bottom of this page, to see all the work I’ve been doing. But when the gallery reached 187 something images- I knew I needed to weed out the sucks, and make it a true portfolio.
I have spent the last week going through lots of work, picking and choosing images from the past two years only, to put in my web portfolio/archive. It has six (6) separate categories with ten (10) images in each gallery; 35mm/bw, 35mm/c, 120mm, 4X5, polaroid, and scans. They may possibly grow to fifteen (15) images in each, but for now, it will remain at ten (10) each. Take a look.

ANOTHER STATE OF MIND
September 21st, 2009
I was in the middle of watching the Youth Brigade/Social Distortion 1982 tour documentary, Another State of Mind last evening, and I paused it to go out to the backyard and shoot this image. If you haven’t seen the film, I highly recommend it- even if you’re not a fan of punk or music history in general. Gaining perspective is always inspiring and motivating, especially when I can translate it through imagery.

JUNE LAKE & BIG JER
September 2nd, 2009
The entire point of the Mammoth trip (besides shooting guns, obviously) was to celebrate Big Jer’s 34th B-Day. It was a lot of fun meeting new friends and skating the park together when no one else was around. Smiles all around, new friendships made, and lots of laughs. Can’t wait for the next trip- all guns, no skateboards. MRZ photos from the trip can be found here & also here.

4X5 POLAROID TEST
August 27th, 2009
Discontinued, Type55 Polaroid…

Fuji’s replacement for 4X5 Polaroids…

…I like Type55 much better; Neg & Print. I’m going to miss you Type55’s (as I only have ONE left…)
RIDICULOUSNESS
August 2nd, 2009
I skated ridiculous pool yesterday, and all i can say? – holy. fuck. Most epic backyard-er I have ever had the privilege of skating. I had a few fronside grinds, and a couple ‘over the stairs’ before this shit went down- Annihilated (see video below…). This was my second attempt (almost pulled the first one) and was at the very end of the session…Smash Skates- fully living up to their name. Check out Ozzies blog, shits off the hook.
I guess it’s good to get some energy out this way when you need to, FML…

PORTRAIT OF PASSION
July 11th, 2009
Both of these are the same images of Dave. The first is the actual Polaroid, and the second is the Polaroids neg. Personally i find myself a bit more attached to the negative vs. the print; i feel it holds a bit more emotion. i didn’t feel like being an ‘artist’ when it came to the Polaroid transfer, though this one would have been purely authentic- not some half-assed digital glossy ink-jet print transfer.
