Before we left for Baja- I was having trouble with my 300mm lens jamming up on me.  I would go to push the shutter, and it wouldn’t fire.  I guess I was hoping that having it get tumbled around in the back of my truck for countless hours and on dirt road excursions, that it would fix itself- neh, not really..
I shot this image of JJ on Saturday March 27th.  We got there it was perfect; Head-high, moderate offshores, two dudes out, and lined up for days.  After I fired off this frame- he was completely covered up and came out virtually dry..This is one of the 13 frames that registered on my roll of Kodak E100G 36exp.  I was having to take the lens off the body virtually after every single shot- which was totally tweaking my tripod settings and my brain mentally.  Apologies for the crooked horizon line- super amateur, I know.
As for my jammed lens- it doesn’t really matter anymore, as I fully destroyed the body with sand/salt water.. epic times man.

After running into RT & Tyler at church earlier this week, I mentioned to RT that we should get some shots soon.  After he was through filming some Hadley footage at the Bu for “Temporal Collections“, He made his way back up to meet Scotty & Myself for a quick surf.  It was really fun shooting with both Scotty & RT- as their styles are so on-point, yet so different when it comes to approach.

Church was really good yesterday (good enough to do two sessions); RT was filming Tyler and Justin for his upcoming release “Temporal Collections“.  I rode down with the Stopnik brothers in Scotty’s new candy-giving/creepy uncle/rapist van and met up with Mitch, JJ, & Natalie.  I shot a roll of Velvia 100, experimented with a new ‘technique’ when it comes to flare (IMGs 1 & 4), then processed it C-41 in hopes of some ‘firewater’ effects.

These images were taken on the snow day I posted about a few down.  The second image, is a semi-Hockney styled photo collage containing five images that comprise a landscaped panoramic.  David Hockney has been one of my biggest influences ever since I first picked up a camera.

A few months back when Mitch opened shop in Oside, I saw an incredible framed print that I really wanted in t-shirt form.  It was a graphic by Loser Machine- it read “Loser Machine-FU-Kill The Dead“.  I’m a huge fan of The Dead, and love them more than life itself- but this was just too good to pass up…kinda like those old stickers Primus made forever ago that said “Primus Sucks“- marketing to both the haters & lovers.  Well, my good bud Mason texted me two days ago saying “I got you a shirt that involves killing dead people” YES!!!  So pictured below, is Mason Dyer surfing Oceanside harbor, and my new shirt being modeled by some geezer.

I shot a little at Blackies on Monday & Tuesday morning last week, before I went under the knife.  Here are a couple that I liked; Jared Mell makin’ it, and David Allee perched like a statue.  (click to enlarge).

These comprise an image of Tyler and Big Scott talking about a bunch of old photographs Tyler had laying around his office, of his grandfather riding and wrenching away on his earlier bikes back in the 1940’s.  Easily some of the coolest and most inspiring photos I’d ever seen before; Big Scott is holding the photos as Tyler tells the story behind nearly every single one.

One of my favorite things to do while driving, is take photos (I know, safe right?).  I shot all four of these images on Thursday after picking up a few more records.  I really like the shot of the New Jersey Biker; His style spoke in a pretty high volume to myself & CT.  (click to enlarge).

My good friend, and ex-roommate- Chad Cheverier really did me a huge favor yesterday.  Since my finger has been totally F-ed up (and they casted me up to nearly my elbow…) I haven’t been able to do much.  Chad developed this roll for me if I let him use my single processing tank- SOLD!  It was a little of Tylers shop and a bit of that offshore day at Church I posted of the slides before I left for Phish.  Here a couple of Tylers garage.

I really do.  So so much.  I actually kicked two yesterday- live ones; two pigeons while I was on the phone with David- he laughed.  I hate pigeons and seagulls more than flies.  Yesterday at Blackies (YO was there)- some guy was driving his truck super slow in the parking lot, and somehow managed to run this little jerk-off over.  It popped, real loud.  I laughed, then took these photo.  Then, Turk thought it’d be epic to burnout on that little bastard (check video below)- and I totally agreed.  Sorry if you love birds- I hate them (Listen to Black Sabbath).

Oh yeah- we surfed too.  Turk getting barreled and Scotty testing the Riddler; while I got some work done.  Killing two birds with one stone- or in this case, killing one bird with two stones..
