I’ll have work showing in LA from today until the end of the month at Space 1520 (off of Cahuenga Blvd. X Sunset Blvd. – Across from Amoeba) along with Kassia Meador, Jeffery Jones, Joni Sternbach, and Dan Monick. The space is pretty amazing, and I feel honored to be along side of such great creative spirits. Come out tonight if you can- there’s a full on bar and a lot of weird LA people watching op’s, it should be awesome to say the least..
The results on the strip below, are due to an inconsistency in one of my new camera bodies evidently. I don’t think the shutter-advancer was properly working at the time, but the rest of the roll came out fine… kinda weird..? (click to enlarge)

I was in Baja this past week on the heaviest trip yet; Four [4] flat tires (two for me, two for Kass) – a broken battery bracket – Jens truck got stuck three or four times in sand/moon dust – I got arrested (see below) – John & I both coasted downhill in a heavy mountain range with our gas lights on for 25+ miles – SXXXS – I drove 19+ hours straight – Tanner’s daisy flew off the roof – Kass’ rack broke – got lost on the dirt road at least 15 times (hired a couple of local fisherman to lead the way..) – drove more at night than during the day.. oh yeah, and scored the best surf of my life. It is literally by the grace of God that we all made it home as safely as we did; can’t wait to go back :)
(the below polaroid was shot on TIP’s ‘chocolate‘ batch they released- unaltered positive; just added typing. The nail tip is what caused one of my flat tires, and the ticket is from my wonderful decision making..)

Got home from Baja this morning at midnight; Been there since Tuesday with JJ, Gabezilla, Sleepy Seahorse, Chingadera Barry, and the Alaskan Fisherman Mike. Best trip yet; epic surf, great friends, amazing weather, two/three session days, and offshore winds all day long.

The rut continues; I’m attempting to challenge myself a bit more photographically as of lately.
I liked this light when I saw it in that abandoned parking lot the day before yesterday. Lights seemed to get photographed a lot. I shot all three of these images consecutively with the exact same exposure of +1 stop over. I’ve always really liked seeing how the color becomes warped and transformed through focus (or lack-there-of). I like these results, I think the red hues alone make the photo(s) work..

I shot this portrait of myself last night, as my day had come to an end and I was fixating on “When the Circus Comes to Town” off Live Phish 8 : Camden, NJ. I just can’t imagine what it would be like to capture a guitar tone into tangible form, like in writing or in a photo…I just don’t think it’s possible- especially when it comes to Trey and the tone he continues to produce. It’s such a passionate, and rather intense vibe that captivates my soul each and every time. Thank you Lord for music.
