IT DIES TODAY

May 24th, 2010

My really good buddy Jeff Robson recently installed his own body of online work.  I’m personally really excited about it, since I consider Jeff to be one of my bigger influences both photographically and creatively.  Stop by and check out the galleries he has up so far; He’ll be adding more shortly..

“I LIKE THIS SONG”

December 15th, 2009

This here is Robsons little nook he has in one of his two bedrooms…I really feel it every time I step foot in here- everything is perfectly aligned, very symmetrical, and just wonderfully organized.  I’m a huge fan of sweet nooks and man caves- they draw up so much inspiration and are a amazing visual depiction of the individual and what they are like mentally.  One of my favorite places to just sit around and vibe out.

TONE TO TONALITY

December 11th, 2009

I shot this portrait of myself last night, as my day had come to an end and I was fixating on “When the Circus Comes to Town” off Live Phish 8 : Camden, NJ.  I just can’t imagine what it would be like to capture a guitar tone into tangible form, like in writing or in a photo…I just don’t think it’s possible- especially when it comes to Trey and the tone he continues to produce.  It’s such a passionate, and rather intense vibe that captivates my soul each and every time.  Thank you Lord for music.

TYLER & BIG SCOTT

December 7th, 2009

These comprise an image of Tyler and Big Scott talking about a bunch of old photographs Tyler had laying around his office, of his grandfather riding and wrenching away on his earlier bikes back in the 1940’s.  Easily some of the coolest and most inspiring photos I’d ever seen before; Big Scott is holding the photos as Tyler tells the story behind nearly every single one.

I AM HYDROGEN

Mitch was kind enough to ask me to whip up a couple t-shirt designs for Captain Fin Co. the other day, and I was very happy to help out.  These are what I came up with.  I personally like the butt/baby graphic best, but it isn’t up to me to decide which one will be wearable in the months to come…

THE HOMECOMING

October 19th, 2009

After dealing with all this eviction crap and my mentally handicapped roommates, not being a party-er whatsoever, getting all ancy to see Phish in a little less than two weeks, and just mainly hating life in general right now; I decided I needed to return to my home away from home, with my Baja buddy- Seahorse: BAJA.  Hurricane Rick is going to be F-ing some S up off the southern tip of Baja/Mainland Mex…So hopefully Baja Norte will be getting epic with no one there, due to all the stupid American folklore that’s been being said about Baja since 1836.  So if you have a hunger for some Baja gems and feel like hulling (or shredding) your damn face off- please, email me.  Seahorse and I always enjoy the company.  We leave Wednesday and come home Sunday.  Suck it 9-5’s.

RADBALLS.COM

September 25th, 2009

If you didn’t already know, my good friend Brandon Wong and myself tag-team a blog under the name Radballs (I’m the leftball – he’s the rightball).  Brandon is an incredibly talented graphic designer and a pretty great photographer as well.  It balances out nicely- as he shoots beautiful digital shots, that are sharp as hell- while I shoot crappy art shots that are usually out of focus and processed horribly.
It started out back in mid ‘07 when I was reading this absurd Thrasher write-up entitled ‘Stupid tattoos everyone should have‘ at my desk at Fox, and “Radballs” was one of the tattoos they suggested.  I told Brandon about the name (and I also added it to my vocabulary; saying it after anything and everything for a solid four to six months..) and then we birthed a blog.  It was our gay little baby/illegitimate child- that we named Radballs.com.  It’s mainly based around skateboarding and music- but the occasional ratarded non-sense post has been known to happen.  Anyway, you should check it out; Its super radballs.

EMPTINESS & SOLITUDE

September 11th, 2009

This series was shot with my digital point and shoot on ISO 1600- primarily for an idea I wanted to remind myself of.  Normally, I would be disgusted by the amount of noise in these photographs (as I feel it’s more than absurd), but for this I feel it kind of fits.  I noted all these around dusk in Oceanside during a ten minute walk I took through a couple of back alleys.  I’m planning to go back sometime next week to properly execute these photos, but felt like these were more of a visual notebook, and wanted to share my personal notes with you.

FULLY DEVELOPED

June 24th, 2009

Took the next step back in time and decided to take a risk.  I shot a roll of 3200 yesterday while with Worm & Dave, and since there wasn’t anything too major on it- I figured I’d see if I could still develop.  Normal rolls are @ 6.5m- while this roll of 3200 was @ 15m.  Everything came out great surprisingly… The negs have an insane amount of grain, there is only one kink mark, and the contrast is all there.
This is my farewell to labs doing my black and white for me, from now on- it’s all on me.  Speaking of which- if you can’t find a lab around your area, I’d be more than happy to develop your rolls for you (for much cheaper than you’d pay anywhere else).  Email me if you’re interested.

negativenegatives

The first shot above was taken of me archiving several hundreds of my negatives from their processing cases into sleeves.  I honestly had a box full to the brim of last years negs- it took me around four hours to go through everything.  The second shot was taken by Theo Hetherington, of me checking to see if my processing actually worked- evidentally it did.  Below is the film canister I used, and rolled flat after removing the film.
